Men and children in the village of Solsesei Malha'a, Rotuma cooking a koua. Koua is an oven dug in the ground, in which food is baked. Christopher is mixing the fekei (a Rotuman dessert made of banana) while Gagaj Saufo'ou is holding the pot. Sinalei is the little girl sitting next to her father Gagaj Saufo'ou. Rotuma is a small Polynesian Island which is part of the Fijian Islands and where my mother Tonu is from.
